Hyperinflation
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/cartoon/

I know it's just a cartoon, but. Hyperinflation?! Do they even know what the word means? Sometimes I think the newspapers hanker after the days of world wars and cold wars and tumultuous economies. They want the world to be like that now.

Or maybe they just want to make it sound that way, because it sells more papers. Yes, I think that is it.

Similarly from the I-don't-think-it-means-what-you-think-it-means files: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06/21/cardiff_copter_coppers_chase_ufo/

A spokesman for South Wales Police said that they could confirm the Air Support Unit had sighted an unusual aircraft and that this was reported to the relevant authorities for further investigation. The unidentified flying object closed in at great speed, aiming straight for the helicopter, which was forced to swerve sharply.

"They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw."

It's not far-fetched, it *was* a UFO. Possibly what the police mean to say is that they're convinced that it was an alien spaceship, but that really would sound far-fetched. More likely a Torchwood Prop.

Although, come to think of it: "they know what they saw". No, they don't. If they did then it wouldn't be a UFO...

Ah yes, bless Mugabe's heart for reminding us what hyperinflation is all about.
